How we came to be
The Potlatch or "Give Away" is a ceremonial, gift-giving feast practiced by Indigenous peoples of the north country (Tlingit, Anishinabeg, Kwakwaka'wakw and others) to mark major life events, celebrate, and redistribute wealth. Derived from a Chinook word meaning "to give" the ceremony involves feasting, dancing, and the giving of gifts.
At Potlatch, hanging out with friends and cooking meals together are some of our favorite things to do while in the backcounty. We hope to keep the tradition alive by helping you share your trail meals with friends in the great outdoors.

Three years ago, I was researching UL grills to purchase. After extensive searching, I thought the dimensions were too small and that they were a bit heavy vis-a-vis other UL equipment. My friends and I spent 3 years testing our own designs and iterations on the trail and we’ve come up with a design that I think you’ll like. They are about ½ the weight of all other UL grills with similar dimensions. You can also cook for 2!
I didn’t launch these to get rich. I’m just trying to improve the trail experience for our community so they are priced pretty low even though I hand make each one. If you’d like to try one, I’d be happy to refund you if you think there’s a better option out there for you.
